Shettima Pledges Federal Support to Unlock Nigeria’s Geo-Heritage Potential

Abuja – Vice President Kashim Shettima has reaffirmed the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to harness the socio-economic potential of Nigeria’s geo-heritage sites. He emphasized that the federal government is ready to collaborate with stakeholders to maximize the benefits of these national treasures.

Shettima made the statement on Thursday in Abuja while receiving a delegation from the UNESCO International Geoscience and Geoparks Programme (IGGP) Nigeria National Committee, led by its chairman, Dr. Aminu Abdullahi Isyaku.

The Vice President said the government’s “doors are open for collaboration,” particularly with subnational governments, stressing that exploring the economic and developmental benefits of geo-heritage sites is crucial for national progress.

“It is better late than never to explore the economic and developmental benefits of geo-heritage sites for the betterment of the nation,” Shettima said, adding that the Tinubu administration is repositioning the country across all sectors.
