Air Canada will resume its flight operations on Sunday after the Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) ordered an end to a strike by about 10,000 flight attendants that brought the airline’s services to a halt and disrupted summer travel plans for thousands of passengers.
In a statement, the airline said the CIRB “directed Air Canada to resume airline operations and for all Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge flight attendants to resume their duties by 14:00 EDT on August 17, 2025.”
The strike had significantly affected the airline’s domestic and international flight schedules, causing widespread delays and cancellations across major airports. Many travellers were left stranded as the labour dispute unfolded during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.
Air Canada expressed appreciation to its customers for their patience and said it is working to restore normal operations as quickly as possible. The airline also urged passengers to check their flight status and arrive early at airports as services gradually return to normal.
