Power Supply Will Improve, Tinubu Assures Nigerians

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reassured Nigerians of significant improvements in electricity supply, expressing optimism that ongoing reforms in the power sector will soon yield tangible results across the country.

The assurance comes amid persistent concerns over unstable electricity, which has continued to affect households, businesses, and industries nationwide. According to government officials, the administration is actively addressing long-standing structural challenges in the sector, with a focus on boosting generation, transmission, and distribution capacity.

Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, reiterated that the current improvements being experienced are only the beginning, noting that more comprehensive upgrades are underway. He explained that the government’s strategy includes investments in infrastructure, policy reforms, and partnerships aimed at ensuring sustainable and reliable electricity supply.

Adelabu further disclosed that Nigeria has recently recorded improvements in power generation and transmission levels, describing it as a sign that the sector is gradually stabilizing. He added that the government is working toward a future where uninterrupted electricity becomes a reality for citizens, emphasizing that such progress is achievable within the lifespan of the current administration.

The Tinubu administration has also highlighted efforts to localize the production of key power equipment such as meters, transformers, and cables, a move expected to reduce dependence on imports and strengthen the sector’s capacity.

Despite these assurances, challenges remain, including infrastructure deficits, funding gaps, and distribution inefficiencies. However, the government maintains that its “Renewed Hope” agenda prioritizes energy as a critical driver of economic growth, job creation, and national development.

Stakeholders and citizens alike are now watching closely to see how quickly these promises translate into consistent and affordable electricity supply across Nigeria.
