China Declares Support for Nigeria, Opposes Trump’s Military Threat

China has openly declared its support for Nigeria amid escalating tensions following U.S. President Donald Trump’s military threat over alleged human rights abuses.
In a statement issued by the Chinese Foreign Ministry on Tuesday, Beijing condemned Washington’s “interference in the internal affairs of sovereign nations” and reaffirmed its commitment to Nigeria’s territorial integrity and peace.
The ministry emphasized that dialogue and cooperation remain the best means of resolving human rights and security concerns, urging the United States to respect international norms and avoid actions that could destabilize the region.
Beijing also pledged to strengthen its bilateral relations with Abuja in areas of trade, infrastructure, and defense cooperation. Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Ministry welcomed the move, calling it a “timely gesture of friendship and global balance.”
