The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced a monthly grant of N45,000 for students attending technical colleges across the country.
Prof. Idris Bugaje, Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), revealed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.
He explained that this initiative will make technical education more attractive to young people, helping them acquire valuable skills, secure employment locally and even internationally.
According to him, the move represents a rebirth of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), which had been neglected since the 1980s after its prominence in the colonial and early post-independence era.
He also emphasized that the N45,000 is a grant, not a loan, and students will not need to repay it. The goal is to boost enrollment and interest in technical education throughout Nigeria.
