In a renewed drive for food security, the Niger State Government, through its Niger Foods Security System and Logistics Company, has entered into a strategic partnership with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security to advance Nigeria’s quest for self-sufficiency in sugar production.

At a high-level meeting in Abuja, the Minister of Agriculture, Senator Abubakar Kyari, and the Minister of State for Agriculture, Senator Sabi Aliyu Abdullahi, met with the Chairman of Niger Foods, Mr. Sammy Adigun, alongside the Permanent Secretary and key directors of the ministry.

The meeting reaffirmed a joint commitment to strengthen agricultural production, enhance local capacity, and reduce Nigeria’s heavy dependence on sugar imports.

Officials noted that the collaboration would not only boost sugar production but also open opportunities for job creation, rural development, and sustainable growth in the agricultural sector.
