FG Launches Nigeria’s First Digital Museum to Preserve Cultural Heritage
ABUJA — In a landmark initiative to safeguard Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage and make it more accessible globally, the Federal Government has launched the National Commission for Museums and Monuments (NCMM) Digital Museum, the first digital museum of its kind in the country.
The project, driven by the Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, was officially unveiled by Minister Hannatu Musa Musawa, who described the launch as a “bold step into a new era of cultural preservation and technological integration.”
The digital museum aims to provide Nigerians and the international community with virtual access to Nigeria’s vast collection of historical artifacts, traditional art, and monuments, bridging the gap between culture and technology.
Minister Musawa emphasized that the initiative will not only preserve national heritage but also promote education, research, and tourism in innovative ways.
The NCMM Digital Museum is expected to serve as a platform for cultural exchange and a model for future digital preservation projects in Africa.
