Okoye, Ejuke Return as Nigeria Announces 24-Man World Cup Play-Off Squad

The Nigeria Football Federation has unveiled a 24-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup African play-offs in Morocco. Goalkeeper Maduka Okoye and winger Chidera Ejuke return to the national team, boosting Nigeria’s chances in the semi-final against Gabon on November 13 at the Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat.

Okoye, back for the first time since June, has regained his position as Udinese’s first-choice goalkeeper after a suspension. Ejuke, making his first appearance since October 2024, brings creativity and pace from Sevilla. The squad features key defenders Bright Osayi-Samuel, Chidozie Awaziem, Semi Ajayi, William Troost-Ekong, and Calvin Bassey, while midfield stalwarts Wilfred Ndidi, Frank Onyeka, Alhassan Yusuf, Alex Iwobi, and Raphael Onyedika strengthen the center.

Nigeria’s attack includes Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Samuel Chukwueze, Moses Simon, Tolu Arokodare, Akor Adams, and Olusegun Olakunle. Notable absentees are Paul Onuachu and Ebenezer Akinsanmiro. The Super Eagles aim to return to the World Cup after missing the 2022 edition. Semi-finals are single-leg clashes, with the winner advancing to the final and a chance at inter-confederation qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
