Nigeria TV Info — PSG Fight Back to Defeat Barcelona in Champions League Clash
Paris, France — Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has praised his team’s resilience after they staged a dramatic comeback to beat Barcelona 2-1 in a Champions League league-phase clash at the Olympic Stadium on Wednesday night.
The match, played with high intensity and top-quality football, saw Gonçalo Ramos score in stoppage time to seal PSG’s second consecutive victory and maintain their perfect start to the campaign.
Enrique, who once managed Barcelona, hailed the contest as a true footballing spectacle that showcased PSG’s identity. “We’ve seen an excellent game. When you see two teams who don’t kick each other, who go out to play and to do damage with the ball, you get a really good spectacle,” he said. “Barcelona were better until their goal. We recovered well. We were better in the second half. We deserved it. It’s a big win. It’s always hard playing against Barça. It’s an important win for confidence.”
Barcelona had struck first, but PSG quickly equalised through Nuno Mendes’ assist, before the Portuguese full-back shifted focus to containing 18-year-old Lamine Yamal, who had threatened early on with dazzling runs. Mendes, along with Achraf Hakimi who set up the winning goal, underlined PSG’s dominance from the flanks.
Ramos’ late strike silenced the home supporters and extended Barcelona’s unwanted record of three straight Champions League home defeats to PSG, following eliminations in 2021 and 2024.
