Akume, Akpabio, Abbas Inaugurate Tinubu Support Group in Benue Ahead of 2027 Election
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume; Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio; and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, have inaugurated the President Bola Tinubu Support Group 2027 in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.
The event, which took place over the weekend, was convened by Mr. Mathias Byuan, who is the Chief Convener and Coordinator of the group.
Represented by Senator Jacob Gyado, SGF Akume commended the organizers for mobilizing early support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections. He stated that the president has earned public confidence through policies and projects that he said are aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians.
Akume expressed confidence that Benue State and the wider North-Central region would deliver strong backing for President Tinubuâs re-election bid.
> âThe Tiv people, too, must have a political leader; let the youths wait for their time. You canât start school today and become a professor today. When the time comes, we will speak with you,â Akume said.
He also noted his political influence in the state, claiming to have contributed to the emergence of multiple governors and senators from the region.
Similarly, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, represented by Senator Titus Sam, praised President Tinubu for appointing the first Secretary to the Government of the Federation from the North-Central region. He said the appointment reflects Tinubuâs commitment to inclusion and national balance.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, also aligned with the call for unity and political consolidation ahead of the next electoral cycle.
The event marked one of the early organized campaign support activities signaling the political atmosphere ahead of the 2027 elections, although official campaigns have not yet commenced in accordance with electoral guidelines.
