Nigeria TV Info – Eight Stolen Kano state Children Rescued in Delta state Orphanage Raid
Officials of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) have rescued eight children suspected to have been stolen from Kano State between 2017 and 2022. The children were found in an orphanage in Asaba, Delta State.
The rescued children were among 70 underage minors, including newborn babies, discovered during a joint operation involving NAPTIP, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police, the Kano State Ministry of Women Affairs, civil society groups, and concerned parents.
NAPTIP, in a statement issued on Tuesday by its press officer, Vincent Adekoye, disclosed that the operation followed petitions from parents in Kano who reported the abduction of their children, mostly between the ages of two and ten.
The agency noted that investigations revealed the children had been trafficked from Kano and moved to other parts of the country under suspicious circumstances.
Authorities assured that further investigations are ongoing, while efforts are being intensified to reunite the rescued children with their families.
