Kaduna: ADC Transition Committee Inauguration Marred by Violence

Kaduna—The inauguration of the transition committee of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and opposition coalition parties in Kaduna State descended into chaos on Saturday as suspected thugs stormed the venue, attacking participants and vandalising property.

The event, which brought together members of an All Progressives Congress (APC) faction opposed to the state leadership alongside the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), and ADC, was disrupted when hoodlums armed with cutlasses, clubs, and stones invaded the hall.

Eyewitnesses reported scenes of panic as attendees scrambled to safety while some properties and equipment were destroyed. Security operatives were later deployed to the scene, but the extent of injuries and damages is still being assessed.

The attack has raised concerns about the security of political gatherings in the state ahead of upcoming elections, with opposition leaders condemning the violence and calling for swift investigations.
