The Federal Ministry of Environment has launched the 2025 Flood Awareness Campaign in Nyanya, Abuja, to tackle the increasing threat of flooding in Nigeria.
Led by Minister Balarabe Abbas Lawal, the campaign focuses on:
- Raising public awareness
- Early warning systems
- Drainage maintenance
- Afforestation
- Community-based education
The Minister emphasized the importance of not dumping waste in drains and encouraged strong cooperation between the government and local communities.
Launching the campaign in Nyanya—a high-risk area—shows the Ministry’s commitment to prioritizing flood-prone zones and promoting long-term prevention efforts.
