The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has dismissed as false and unofficial the primary election results currently circulating on social media, insisting that only the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) has the authority to ratify and announce the outcomes of its nationwide primaries.
In a statement issued in Abuja, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, urged members, supporters, and the general public to disregard all purported results being shared online. According to the party, the official results of the primaries conducted on May 28 and 29 remain under the custody of the NEC pending deliberation and approval.
The statement further revealed that the party’s National Leader, Seriake Dickson, has directed the convening of a crucial NEC meeting in Abuja to consider issues arising from the primary elections and ratify the final outcomes. NEC members have been asked to arrive in Abuja on June 2 for a pre-NEC session, while the main meeting is scheduled for June 3.
The NDC assured stakeholders that the authentic list of candidates for the 2027 general elections would only be released after the party completes its internal processes and forwards the names of successful aspirants to the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The development comes amid growing speculation over the outcome of the party’s primaries, with several unofficial lists and candidate names circulating online. Party officials maintain that no candidate has been officially declared and that the NEC meeting will play a decisive role in determining the final lineup ahead of the 2027 elections.
