Davido–Anuoluwapo Paternity Dispute Takes New Turn as Alleged Threatening Chat Surfaces
Lagos — The ongoing public dispute between Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, and 12-year-old Anuoluwapo Mitchelle has taken a new twist following the circulation of an alleged chat in which the singer is said to have threatened legal action against the girl’s mother, Ayo Labinjoh, over what he described as persistent “harassment.”
A screen recording of the chat, which went viral late Thursday after being posted on Anuoluwapo’s Instagram page co-managed by her mother, appears to show messages from an account bearing Davido’s verified handle. In the exchange, the “Unavailable” crooner reportedly reiterated his denial of paternity and warned that Labinjoh could face imprisonment if the alleged harassment continued.
As of the time of filing this report, Davido has neither confirmed nor denied the authenticity of the chat, and no official statement has been issued by his management regarding the development.
The controversy was recently reignited after Anuoluwapo made a public appeal, claiming she had endured mental anguish and bullying due to the long-standing dispute over her parentage. In her plea, the minor called on Davido to agree to a fresh DNA test to conclusively establish her identity, stating that she had reached out to him directly via a private message.
The paternity dispute, which has resurfaced multiple times over the years, continues to generate widespread reactions on social media, with fans and observers divided over the claims and counterclaims. For now, the matter remains unresolved, as Nigerians await further clarification from the parties involved.
