Five Suspects Arrested for Attempted Vandalism at Port Harcourt Port — Police

Operatives of the Eastern Ports Command of the Nigeria Police Force have arrested five suspects for allegedly attempting to vandalise iron pipes belonging to the Ports and Terminal Operators Limited (PTOL) at the Port Harcourt Port Complex.

The Commissioner of Police in charge of the Eastern Ports, CP Tijani Fatai, disclosed the development on Monday while briefing journalists. According to him, the suspects were apprehended on Sunday following coordinated efforts between vigilant local residents and the command’s surveillance team.

Fatai expressed concern that cases of vandalism around port facilities—previously reduced to near zero through intensified security operations—are now resurfacing as the festive season approaches, with criminal elements seeking quick financial gains.
