DSS Arrests Suspected Major Arms Supplier in Plateau State

Plateau, Nigeria – Three months after arraigning suspects in the Yelwata and Plateau massacres, the Department of State Services (DSS) has recorded another major breakthrough in its fight against armed groups, with the arrest of a man believed to be a key supplier of weapons.

On November 12, DSS operatives arrested Musa Abubakar during a targeted raid on his workshop in Mista Ali, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State. The operation followed weeks of meticulous surveillance and intelligence gathering.

According to investigators, Abubakar confessed to manufacturing and distributing high-caliber weapons and ammunition to groups responsible for violent attacks in Plateau and other northern states. During the raid, DSS officers seized components for improvised explosive devices (IEDs), chemicals, and specialized equipment from his workshop.

The DSS said the arrest is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle networks supplying arms to violent groups and ensure security in the region. Further investigations are ongoing to track and apprehend other individuals linked to the arms trade.
