Katsina Mosque Attack: 13 Worshippers Killed in Early Morning Raid

KATSINA — Tragedy struck in the early hours of Tuesday as gunmen stormed a mosque in Unguwan Mantau village, Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State, killing 13 worshippers during dawn (Fajr) prayers.

Eyewitnesses said the attackers opened fire on the congregation at around 5 a.m., shooting indiscriminately inside the mosque, leaving the community in shock and mourning. Security operatives have reportedly arrived at the scene to secure the area and investigate the attack.

No group has claimed responsibility for the assault, and authorities are appealing to residents to remain calm while investigations continue.

The incident underscores the rising concerns over security in parts of northern Nigeria, with residents calling for increased protection of places of worship.
