TECHNOLOGY – China Tests Vacuum Tube Super Train: The “200 km in 9 Minutes” Claim Seems Exaggerated

Category: News |

 August 15, 2025 – Nigeria TV Info
In recent days, social media has been flooded with claims that China has tested a super-fast train capable of covering 200 kilometers in just 9 minutes. Nigeria TV Info investigated – and it appears the reality is more modest.

Official Chinese reports confirm the ongoing development of a vacuum tube maglev train. The latest test was conducted in Datong, inside a low-pressure tube about 2 kilometers long. The trial achieved stable levitation and safe stopping, but no official maximum speed was disclosed.

The “200 km in 9 minutes” performance has no verified measurement or evidence – it is currently a sensational speculation. Planned future routes, such as the Shanghai–Hangzhou line, could theoretically reach close to 1,000 km/h, cutting travel time to around 12 minutes. However, this is still in development, with full operation expected no earlier than 2035.

Conclusion:
China’s technology is impressive, but the “200 km in 9 minutes” claim is currently an exaggeration. Nigeria TV Info will continue to monitor the project and report on verified results.
