NLC Issues 7-Day Ultimatum to FG Over NSITF Funds, PENCOM Board

ABUJA — The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has given the Federal Government a seven-day ultimatum to refund what it described as allegedly diverted workers’ funds from the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF).

The labour body is also demanding the immediate constitution of the Governing Board of the National Pension Commission (PENCOM).

In a statement on Thursday, the NLC warned that failure by the government to meet these demands within the stipulated period would result in a nationwide industrial action.

The Congress accused relevant authorities of neglecting their statutory responsibilities, stressing that the alleged diversion of workers’ funds undermines social protection schemes and workers’ welfare.

The ultimatum comes amid rising tensions over labour-related disputes in the country, with the NLC vowing to mobilise its affiliates and civil society allies to ensure compliance with its demands.
