Arab Nations Condemn Netanyahu’s ‘Greater Israel’ Remarks
Arab nations have strongly criticised comments by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that appeared to support the idea of an expanded “Greater Israel,” describing the statements as a direct threat to their sovereignty and stability in an already volatile Middle East.
The controversial remarks, made during a recent address, have sparked diplomatic backlash, with Arab leaders warning that such rhetoric undermines peace prospects and fuels regional tensions.
The concept of “Greater Israel” is rooted in a biblical interpretation of the nation’s boundaries during the reign of King Solomon. This vision extends beyond Israel’s current borders to include not only the Palestinian territories of Gaza and the occupied West Bank, but also parts of present-day Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria.
Officials from several Arab states stressed that any attempt to legitimise territorial expansion would violate international law and the rights of Palestinian and neighbouring Arab peoples.
The comments come amid heightened instability in the region, with ongoing conflicts and stalled peace negotiations adding to fears of further escalation.
