August 13, 2025. Nigeria TV Info brings you news of a groundbreaking invention that could change lives for thousands living with paralysis. The device, called MouthPad^, is a custom mouthpiece that rests on the roof of the mouth and allows the user to control a phone, tablet, or computer using simple tongue and head movements — completely hands-free.
In our review, we found that MouthPad can open doors to education, work, and online connection for people with severe mobility challenges. Early testers have been able to browse the internet, send messages, and even play games using only tongue gestures and slight head movements.
How it works: A custom-made mouthpiece is fitted after a 3D scan. The device senses tongue swipes or taps, while optional head-tracking adds extra precision. It connects via Bluetooth just like a wireless mouse.
Why it matters for Nigerians: While MouthPad is currently shipping only in the United States, Nigerians can already sign up for the international waitlist. For many in our country living with spinal cord injuries, this could be a life-changing tool for education and employment.
