EFCC Grills Senator Tambuwal Over Alleged N189 Billion Sokoto Government Fund Withdrawal

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has invited Senator Waziri Aminu Tambuwal over an alleged suspicious withdrawal of ₦189 billion from the Sokoto State Government’s account during his tenure as governor.

According to EFCC sources, the massive withdrawals were made incrementally over a six-year period within his eight-year tenure as governor of Sokoto State.

Tambuwal, who currently represents Sokoto South Senatorial District, reportedly arrived at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja around 11:30 a.m. yesterday to honour the agency’s invitation.

The anti-graft body is investigating the circumstances surrounding the withdrawals, which it suspects may have violated financial regulations and procurement laws.

As of the time of this report, no official charges have been filed, and the EFCC has yet to release details of the interrogation.
