Ministry of Education Responds to Allegations Against UBEC Executive Secretary
The Federal Ministry of Education has responded to recent media reports alleging financial and administrative misconduct against the Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Dr. Aisha Garba.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Ministry described the reports as âmisleadingâ and cautioned the public against jumping to conclusions based on unverified claims. It emphasized that due process must be followed in addressing any issues of accountability or misconduct in public service.
According to the Ministry, a preliminary internal review has shown no evidence of wrongdoing on the part of Dr. Garba. It added that the UBEC Executive Secretary continues to carry out her duties in line with established regulations and standards governing the education sector.
âThe Ministry wishes to state clearly that the allegations currently circulating are not only unfounded but appear to be aimed at undermining the reforms being implemented in the basic education sector,â the statement read.
It further reaffirmed the governmentâs commitment to transparency, accountability, and adherence to the rule of law, assuring stakeholders that any credible allegation will be properly investigated by the appropriate authorities.
The Ministry urged the media and the general public to refrain from spreading unsubstantiated allegations that could tarnish reputations and disrupt ongoing educational development efforts.
