NDC Primaries: How Aisha Yesufu rejected Reps ticket – Dickson
The National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Seriake Dickson, has revealed that activist and former FCT senatorial aspirant, Aisha Yesufu, rejected an earlier offer to contest for a House of Representatives ticket under the party before joining the senatorial race controversy.
Dickson made the disclosure while addressing journalists amid ongoing disputes over the NDC’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) primaries, which saw Yesufu eventually losing the senatorial ticket and later alleging irregularities in the process.
According to him, both himself and the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, had initially offered Yesufu the opportunity to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives, an offer he said she declined despite what he described as a highly competitive ticket environment.
The NDC leader insisted that the party acted in good faith during the selection process and dismissed claims that tickets were imposed or influenced by financial inducements, saying the primaries were conducted within party guidelines.
The development adds another layer to the ongoing political tension within the NDC following the FCT senatorial primaries, where Yesufu’s loss sparked internal disagreement and public commentary from party stakeholders.
Yesufu, a prominent activist and ally of Peter Obi, had earlier entered the FCT Senate race but later alleged manipulation of the primaries before stepping back from the contest.
