Dislodged Terrorists Migrate to South-East, South-South Regions – Security Alert Raised

Security agencies have raised concerns over reports that displaced terrorist elements, following intensified military offensives in the North, are attempting to relocate into Nigeria’s South-East and South-South regions.

According to security sources, sustained operations in the North-East and North-West have weakened several insurgent cells, forcing remnants of armed groups to seek refuge in forested and riverine areas of other regions. Intelligence reports suggest that some of these movements are opportunistic, exploiting porous boundaries and limited surveillance in rural communities.

Military authorities have reportedly increased surveillance operations across key transit corridors, while state-level security outfits and vigilante groups have been placed on heightened alert. The focus, officials say, is to prevent the establishment of new sleeper cells or criminal networks in previously less-affected regions.

Communities in the South-East and South-South have been advised to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements, as coordinated efforts between federal and state security agencies continue.

Authorities emphasize that ongoing counterterrorism operations remain active and adaptive, aiming to neutralize threats before they can reorganize in new locations.
