Jos DisCo Explains Poor Power Supply in Plateau, Bauchi, Benue, Gombe
Residents across Plateau, Bauchi, Benue and Gombe states have endured inconsistent electricity supply as the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (Jos DisCo) attributes the ongoing power shortfall to reduced allocations from the national grid. The companyâs spokesperson, Saratu Dauda, told journalists in Jos on Wednesday that the distribution network can only deliver the volume of energy it receives from the national grid â a situation largely beyond its direct control. Reduced generation at power plants, constrained transmission infrastructure and low allocations from the Transmission Company of Nigeria have limited the amount of electricity available for distribution, worsening load shedding and outages. Dauda asked customers for patience, while confirming that Jos DisCo is engaging grid stakeholders and working toward stabilising supply. The shortage has impacted households and businesses, leaving many reliant on generators and alternative power sources. The Power Minister has previously acknowledged nationwide sector challenges, including limited generation capacity and transmission constraints that affect grid reliability in many regions.
