US Set to Deport 79 Nigerians on Criminal List Amid Immigration Crackdown

The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced plans to deport 79 Nigerian nationals listed among what U.S. officials describe as the “worst-of-the-worst” criminals. The deportation list includes men and women convicted of serious crimes such as fraud, drug trafficking, assault, robbery, and manslaughter across various U.S. jurisdictions.

The action is part of a wider U.S. immigration crackdown targeting non-citizens with criminal records. This move reflects intensified enforcement by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which has recently ramped up removals of foreign nationals convicted of severe offences.

While the Nigerian government has yet to issue an official response, it has previously engaged with U.S. authorities on deportation procedures, emphasizing humanitarian considerations for returnees.
