Ebonyi Governor Sacks Appointees, Monarchs Over Brutal Community Killings

Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has sacked political appointees and traditional rulers from the Amasiri community in Afikpo LGA following a violent clash with the neighboring Okporojo/Oso Edda community. Four persons were reportedly beheaded, and several homes were destroyed. The governor withdrew certificates of recognition from affected monarchs, dissolved local political and traditional leadership, and warned that perpetrators would face justice. Nwifuru visited the affected area, urging calm and promising the state government’s commitment to restoring peace and security. The action comes amid a long-standing boundary dispute between the communities, with previous reconciliation efforts having failed.
