Shettima Attends Inauguration of Dambouya as Guinea’s President

Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, attended the inauguration of Colonel Mamady Dambouya as President of the Republic of Guinea. The high-level ceremony, held in Conakry, attracted regional leaders, diplomats, and representatives of international organizations, underscoring West Africa’s renewed push for stability and democratic transition.

During the event, Shettima conveyed Nigeria’s message of solidarity and commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with Guinea, particularly in areas of security cooperation, trade, and regional integration under ECOWAS frameworks. He emphasized Nigeria’s support for peaceful governance, inclusive development, and the restoration of constitutional order across the sub-region.

Dambouya, in his inaugural address, pledged to prioritize national unity, economic reforms, and institutional rebuilding, while assuring citizens and international partners of his administration’s commitment to stability and transparency. The Guinean leader also called for stronger regional cooperation to address shared challenges such as insecurity, youth unemployment, and infrastructure deficits.

Analysts say Shettima’s presence reflects Nigeria’s diplomatic engagement in West Africa and its strategic role in promoting dialogue and collaboration among neighboring states. The visit also provided an opportunity for bilateral discussions on trade, energy cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
