Newly Inaugurated Tinubu Campaign Office Demolished in Benue State

Tension has gripped parts of Makurdi, Benue State capital, following the demolition of a newly inaugurated campaign office belonging to supporters of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The building, reportedly unveiled last week amid fanfare, was pulled down in the early hours of Friday by men suspected to be acting on the orders of the state urban development authorities.

Eyewitnesses said heavy-duty equipment arrived at the site around 3 a.m., leveling the structure before dawn. The action has sparked outrage among members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, who described the demolition as politically motivated.

A statement by the APC Benue chapter condemned the incident, calling it an “act of intolerance aimed at silencing opposition voices.” The state government, however, denied political involvement, saying the office was erected without proper approval from relevant authorities.

Police have since cordoned off the area to prevent further breakdown of law and order, as party loyalists vowed to seek legal redress over the demolition.
