Nigeria TV Info — Former Guinness Nigeria Manager Sues Company for ₦100 Million Over Alleged Wrongful Dismissal

Akure, Nigeria — A former Territory Manager at Guinness Nigeria Plc, Mr. Ntima Chika Anya, has filed a ₦100 million lawsuit against the multinational beverage company, alleging wrongful, unlawful, and inhumane termination of his appointment.

The defendants in the suit are Guinness Nigeria Plc and Mr. Moshood Adejoro, Anya’s former Line Manager, who still remains employed with the company.

The case came up for hearing on Tuesday at the National Industrial Court in Akure, where Anya, through his lawyer Samuel Chukwudi Nmesi, presented 36 documentary exhibits as evidence before Justice K.D. Damulak. The court admitted all the documents and adjourned the matter to November 27, 2025, for cross-examination by the defense counsel, Ade Abioye.

Anya, who served as Territory Manager for Ilorin/Offa, alleged that his dismissal on October 30, 2020, violated due process and was the result of bias, a witch-hunt, and unprofessional conduct by his immediate supervisor, Mr. Adejoro, along with other senior officials of Guinness Nigeria.

He further told the court that despite submitting a medical report from Olanrewaju Hospital, Ilorin, indicating dangerously high blood pressure, he was denied both annual and sick leave. Instead, he claimed he was forced to work through the COVID-19 lockdown and compelled to sell nearly expired Dubic Malt products, actions he said jeopardized his health and professional integrity.

According to Anya, the dismissal process breached multiple labour regulations. He alleged that company assets were seized publicly, his termination letter was signed under duress at a distributor’s outlet in Ilorin, and that no proper exit clearance or orientation was conducted despite his nearly ten years of service with the firm.

The court will continue proceedings later this year as the defense prepares to challenge the claimant’s evidence.
