Breaking: Tinubu’s Minister Nnaji Resigns Amid Certificate Forgery Allegations
Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, has resigned from President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet following allegations of certificate forgery that surfaced earlier this week. Reports indicate that opposition lawmakers and civil society groups had demanded his suspension pending investigation after documents allegedly linked to Nnaji’s academic records went viral on social media.
In his resignation letter addressed to President Tinubu, Nnaji maintained his innocence, stating that he was stepping down “to allow for an impartial investigation and to protect the integrity of the administration.” The presidency has yet to officially accept his resignation, but insiders confirm that the matter is being reviewed by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
Nnaji, who hails from Enugu State, was appointed in 2023 and has been instrumental in promoting Nigeria’s digital innovation agenda. His exit marks the second resignation within the Tinubu cabinet in recent months, raising fresh concerns about vetting processes and political accountability.
