WHO Warns as Cholera Outbreaks Worsen in 31 Countries

The global cholera situation is deteriorating sharply, with outbreaks reported across 31 countries and a rising fatality rate, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced on Friday.

According to the UN health body, the scale and severity of the outbreaks pose a serious threat to public health worldwide.

“Given the scale, severity, and interconnected nature of these outbreaks, the risk of further spread within and between countries is considered very high,” WHO said in a statement.

Health experts warn that poor sanitation, limited access to clean water, and fragile health systems in many affected regions are fueling the crisis. The WHO has called for urgent international support to contain the spread and reduce deaths.
