ABEOKUTA — The management of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), Abeokuta, Ogun State, has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to tender a public apology over last Sunday’s invasion of its premises.
The OOPL management, in a statement issued yesterday, described the action as an unwarranted violation of its rights and an affront to the dignity of the institution. It demanded that both the EFCC and the IGP not only apologise but also take full responsibility for the incident, warning that failure to comply would result in legal action seeking ₦3.5 billion in damages.
According to the statement, the invasion disrupted operations at the library complex, caused distress to staff and visitors, and tarnished the institution’s public image.
The EFCC and police authorities are yet to officially respond to the ultimatum.
