Tinubu Links Tax Compliance to Infrastructure Delivery in FCT
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged residents and businesses in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to strengthen tax compliance, stating that sustained payment of taxes remains a key driver for ongoing infrastructure development across Abuja.
The President emphasized that his administrationâs rapid infrastructure expansion in the FCTâcovering roads, housing, public facilities, and urban renewal projectsâdepends heavily on internally generated revenue, particularly tax inflows from individuals and corporate entities.
Tinubu noted that improved tax compliance would enable government to accelerate the completion of critical projects, reduce funding gaps, and expand development to underserved communities within the capital territory.
He further stressed that taxation is not merely a civic obligation but a practical tool for national growth, describing it as the financial backbone of infrastructure delivery and public service improvement.
According to him, the Renewed Hope Agenda is designed to ensure that every naira collected through taxes is translated into visible development, job creation, and improved quality of life for citizens.
The President also encouraged wealthy individuals and business owners in the FCT to lead by example in tax payment, saying their compliance would inspire broader participation and strengthen trust between government and taxpayers.
He assured that ongoing infrastructure projects in Abuja would continue at an accelerated pace, with more investments planned in roads, transportation systems, healthcare facilities, and education infrastructure.
Tinubu reiterated his administrationâs commitment to transparency and efficient use of public funds, insisting that accountability in tax collection and expenditure is essential for sustainable development.
