Nigeria Boosts Crude Supply to Dangote Refinery for May Operations

Nigeria has significantly increased crude oil cargo allocations to the Dangote Refinery for May 2026, in a strategic move aimed at strengthening domestic refining capacity and reducing dependence on imported petroleum products.

Industry sources reveal that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) has prioritized crude deliveries to the refinery, ensuring a steady feedstock supply to sustain and expand its operations. The refinery, located in the Lekki Free Trade Zone, is considered Africa’s largest single-train refinery and a critical asset in Nigeria’s energy security framework.

This latest allocation reflects the federal government’s commitment to maximizing local refining output, stabilizing fuel supply, and potentially lowering pump prices across the country. Analysts note that increased crude supply could enhance the refinery’s production of petrol, diesel, aviation fuel, and other refined products, easing pressure on foreign exchange used for fuel imports.

Economic experts also highlight that consistent crude allocation to the Dangote Refinery could boost job creation, stimulate industrial growth, and position Nigeria as a net exporter of refined petroleum products in the near future.

However, stakeholders emphasize the need for transparency, efficient logistics, and sustained policy support to fully realize the benefits of the refinery’s operations.
