The Nigerian market lost N246 billion on Monday as investors traded cautiously after the President of the United States, Donald Trump, designated Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” over allegations of widespread attacks on Christians, rising religious tensions, and the threat of possible military action if the government fails to address the violence.

Economic analysts have called for calm, insisting that the fundamentals of Nigeria’s economy remain strong.

At the capital market, profit-taking activities led to a decline in market capitalization to N97.583 trillion at the close of trading, representing a drop of 0.25% or N246 billion from the N97.829 trillion recorded at the start of the week.
