Dangote Cement Commences Operations in Ivory Coast, Expands West African Footprint

Dangote Cement Plc has officially begun operations at its new plant in Ivory Coast, marking another milestone in the company’s strategic expansion across West Africa. The plant, located near Abidjan, has a production capacity of 3 million metric tonnes per annum and is expected to boost local cement supply, reduce imports, and create over 2,000 direct and indirect jobs.

Speaking at the inauguration, Dangote Group President, Aliko Dangote, stated that the investment underscores the company’s commitment to industrial growth in Africa and regional economic integration. He added that the new facility will enhance infrastructure development in Ivory Coast and neighboring countries.

The Ivorian government welcomed the investment, describing it as a major boost to the nation’s industrialization agenda and a step toward achieving self-sufficiency in cement production. The plant’s operations are expected to significantly lower construction costs and strengthen trade ties within the ECOWAS region.
