Nigeria TV Info – Nigeria’s Oil Output Rises 5.5% in August, Hits 1.63m Barrels Per Day

Abuja, Nigeria – Nigeria’s upstream oil sector recorded a notable year-on-year increase in production, averaging 1.63 million barrels per day (bpd) of crude oil and condensates in August 2025, up from 1.58 million bpd in the same month of 2024.

According to data released on Saturday by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), this represents a 5.5 per cent growth in total output.

A closer look at the figures showed that crude oil production accounted for 1.43 million bpd, marking a 5.47 per cent increase compared to the 1.36 million bpd recorded in August 2024.

However, condensate output declined, with production standing at 197,229 bpd in August 2025, down from 220,435 bpd in the same period last year, highlighting lingering challenges in the sector.

In a statement signed by the NUPRC’s Head of Media and Strategic Communications, Eniola Akinkuotu, the commission said the improved crude oil figures reflect “a steady recovery and enhanced operational performance across the industry.”

Notably, Nigeria’s August crude oil production reached 96 per cent of its Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) quota, currently fixed at 1.5 million bpd, underscoring the country’s capacity to meet its obligations under the OPEC agreement.
