Two Dutch Teenagers Found Dead in Istanbul Hotel, Father Hospitalised

Two Dutch teenagers were found dead in their Istanbul hotel room, while their father was rushed to hospital, Turkish media reported on Saturday.

The boys, aged 15 and 17, were discovered lifeless when police and paramedics arrived at the hotel in the historic Fatih district, close to Istanbul’s Blue Mosque and Grand Bazaar.

Initial suspicion points to food poisoning from a meal they reportedly ate at a restaurant prior to returning to their hotel. Turkish authorities have launched a full investigation to determine the exact cause of death, while forensic examinations are underway.

The father, whose condition remains critical, is receiving treatment at a local hospital.

Dutch consular officials in Istanbul said they are in contact with Turkish authorities and the family’s relatives in the Netherlands.

The tragic incident has drawn significant media attention in both Turkey and the Netherlands, with calls for clarity on what caused the deaths.
