Ngige’s Convoy Attacked in Anambra, Policeman Shot, Woman Killed

Former Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Chris Ngige’s convoy came under attack on Thursday along the Nkpor–Nnobi Road in Idemili North Local Government Area of the state.

According to a statement issued by his former media aide, Sir Fred Chukwuelobe, Dr. Ngige was not in the convoy when the ambush occurred.

During the attack, a policeman in the pilot vehicle was shot, with the assailants also making away with his rifle and uniform. The attackers were reportedly dressed in both police and army uniforms, raising concerns over impersonation and coordinated criminal activity.

In a tragic turn of events, a woman who attempted to record the incident on her mobile phone was shot dead by the gunmen.

A nearby shop owner who rushed to the scene after hearing gunshots was also hit. He reportedly lost a significant amount of blood and is scheduled for surgery to extract the bullets.

Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the incident, but security operatives have reportedly launched investigations to identify and track down the perpetrators.
