Two Killed as Vigilantes, Hunters Repel Bandit Attack on Kogi School

Two persons have been killed after suspected bandits attacked Kiri High School in Aiyetoro Kiri, located in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The bandits reportedly attempted to kidnap school children but were repelled by vigilant hunters and local vigilantes on the scene.

Nigeria TV Info gathered that the incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday in Aiyetoro Kiri.

Barr. Zacheus Dare, Chairman of Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area, confirmed the incident to Nigeria TV Info via a telephone interview. He stated that the vigilantes and hunters successfully repelled the bandits’ attack and are currently pursuing them in the forest, in collaboration with the state’s joint security task force.

“There are two casualties—one hunter and one other person who was hit by stray bullets. Nobody was kidnapped. We remained on site until daybreak and are now pursuing them inside the forest. The joint security task force, including soldiers, police, and local hunters, are after them. Let it be on record that no school children were kidnapped,” Barr. Dare said.
