Nigeria TV Info — Kidnapped Kaduna Cleric, Rev. Anthony Lamba, Reportedly Dies In Captivity

The Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) community has been thrown into mourning following the tragic death of Rev. Anthony Lamba, who reportedly passed away in captivity after being kidnapped earlier this year.

According to a statement released by Rev. Alari Alari of ECWA Kasuwan Magani DCC, Rev. Lamba and his wife were abducted on July 24, 2025, by unknown gunmen. While his wife was later freed after the payment of a ₦5 million ransom, the kidnappers refused to release Rev. Lamba, demanding an additional item — a motorcycle — as part of the conditions for his freedom.

“Sadly, while arrangements were being made to deliver the motorcycle, Rev. Lamba fell seriously ill and passed away in the camp,” the statement confirmed.

The Church expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing Rev. Lamba as a devoted servant of God who dedicated his life to the ministry and the spiritual growth of his community.

A memorial service has been scheduled to hold in his hometown, Kallah, on Sunday, October 19, 2025, where friends, colleagues, and church members will gather to honor his life and legacy.

Rev. Alari also appealed to Christians and members of the public to continue to pray for the Church and the grieving family.

> “Let us continue to pray for the Church of God and the family he left behind,” he urged.
The incident adds to the growing concern over the rising cases of abductions targeting clergy and religious leaders across parts of Nigeria
