Tinubu Approves N1.5tn Recapitalisation for Bank of Agriculture

Abuja, August 7 | Nigeria TV Info — President Bola Tinubu has approved a historic N1.5 trillion recapitalisation of the Bank of Agriculture (BOA), described as the most significant intervention in agricultural financing in Nigeria’s history.

According to a statement released by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security on Wednesday, the recapitalisation—equivalent to roughly $1 billion—aims to reposition the BOA as a dynamic development finance institution. The move will focus on empowering youth and women-led agribusinesses through easier access to credit and targeted capacity-building support.

The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, noted that the initiative aligns with the National Agricultural Technology and Innovation Policy (NATIP), which seeks to modernise the agricultural sector. He said the policy would improve access to quality inputs, enhance productivity, and make agriculture a more attractive and profitable venture for Nigerian youth and women.
